Against my own judgment, I purchased a touch screen phone.

I have the bad habit of throwing phones, so the $179 price tag sold me. Here are the connection details for unlocked phones to work on T-Mobile.

• WAP GW IP Address: 216.155.165.050
• APN Name: wap.voicestream.com or epc.tmobile.com or internet2.voicestream.com
• NOTE: Use the first APN, and try to send an MMS message. If it does not work, try the second and then the third.
• Messaging Server: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
• Data Mode: Connection Oriented

Samsung S5230 specific settings

• Set Name: T-Mobile MMS
• Access Name: wap.voicestream.com
• Auth Type: Secure
• User ID: (blank)
• Password: (blank)
• Protocol: HTTP
• Home URL: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
• Proxy Address: 216.155.165.50:8080
• Linger Time: 300
• Advanced Settings: (blank)

Every phone’s interface is different, but that is the general idea: Gateway/Proxy IP address, APN name, login credentials, home/messaging server address.
